Bing AI Goes Cross-Browser: Now Available on Google Chrome and Safari

Artificial intelligence has become a major force in the online world, and one of the frontrunners in this arena is OpenAI's ChatGPT. Nevertheless, Google's Bard and Microsoft's Bing AI are steadily gaining ground, promising stiff competition. Notably, Microsoft has taken a significant stride to expand its user base by integrating Bing AI into all web browsers, including popular ones like Google Chrome and Apple Safari. Here's a closer look at the latest developments in this fast-evolving landscape...

Microsoft Opens Up Bing AI to All Web Browsers, with Some Limitations

Microsoft has recently extended access to Bing AI for Windows 11 users, but until now, those on alternative browsers like Mac and Chrome OS were excluded from using this AI model. Fortunately, there's good news as the company has finally initiated the rollout of Bing.com AI support to all browsers, including popular ones like Google Chrome and Apple's Safari. This means if you're a Safari user on a MacBook, you can access Bing AI directly through your browser without any additional downloads or installations.

However, it's important to note that the experience may not be identical to that of a Windows 11 user. Microsoft considers other browsers as secondary platforms and has, therefore, implemented certain restrictions on this version of Bing AI. For instance, the chat feature is limited to just five messages per conversation, and there's a character count cap of 2,000. Additionally, whenever you open Bing.com's AI in Chrome, you may encounter a persistent "Start exploring in Edge" pop-up, which can be a bit annoying if you prefer sticking with your current browser.

For users content with their current browser, these limitations may pose some inconveniences. Nevertheless, 2,000 characters can still accommodate substantial inquiries, and five messages in a single chat should be sufficient for most purposes. However, if you require more extensive access to Bing AI, you have a couple of options available. You can either download Microsoft Edge, which provides an unrestricted Bing AI experience, or explore other browser alternatives.

It's worth mentioning that this is not the only surprise Microsoft has in store, so it's worth keeping an eye out for further developments and enhancements to their AI offerings.
