Listen To Nigerians, There's Too Much Hunger In The Country, Fayose Tells Buhari

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to listen to the cries of Nigerians and stop seeing those with opinions different from his own as threats, saying;
“The reality our President must face now is that there is too much hunger in the land, Nigerians are hungry, they are suffering and the President should rather listen to those who are more knowledgeable than him in terms of management of the country’s economy instead of seeing them as threats.”

The governor, who said reactions of the President and his men to divergent opinions had become predictable, added that; “this style of sending the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), Department of State Services (DSS) and other agencies of the federal government against anyone that offers suggestions on how to rescue the country from total collapse is not in the best interest of Nigeria and its suffering masses.”

According to a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti today by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said President Buhari should realise that, “a nation of hungry people is a nation of angry people” and seek help from economic experts in the country, not minding their political, religious and ethnic affiliations.”

Governor Fayose, who particularly singled out the two former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governors; Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and Prof. Charles Soludo, who spoke at different fora last week, said; “Instead of adopting the usual style of trying to silence them with EFCC or ICPC, the President should listen to them and take their advice on board because they are expert in economic matters.”

He said; “It is no longer about politics. Rather, it is about preventing hunger from exterminating Nigerians and I am sure that the president himself knows that hunger does not understand political parties.

“A bag of rice that was less than N8,000 when President Buhari assumed office is now over N20,000! How can a civil servant that is earning N18, 000 minimum wage survive when his monthly salary cannot buy one bag of rice?

“Even basic drugs and medicare are getting out the reach of the common people and the resultant effect of this will be avoidable deaths!

“As at today, a bag of cement is N2, 200, increment of N600 on one bag in just one day. Within four months, exchange rate rose with more than 150 percent, with dollar that was a little above N200 then, now more than N400.

“The harsh reality is that a Nigerian whose income was N100,000 per month in 2015 and still earning the same N100,000 now is actually earning less than N40,000 because what he could buy with N100,000 then cannot be bought with N200,000 now.

“This is the worst time for parents whose children and wards will be going back to school in September. How to pay school fees is causing depression for a lot of parents in just over a year of the Buhari’s administration.

“All these are signs that President Buhari needs help from those who can assist the country to avert this imminent economic collapse and he should not be ashamed to consult even those who ran the economy under the PDP government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan because it appears that things were better then than now.

“Therefore, rather than preoccupying himself with newspaper cartoons, our President should listen to suggestions being offered by Nigerians on ways to bring the country’s economy out of recession that it is now.”

CBN Lifts Suspension On Eight Banks From FX Market

Following the plea made by the Body of Bank CEOs asking the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to lift the suspension of eight banks barred from participating in the foreign exchange market, the CBN lifted the ban Wednesday afternoon.

The CBN had suspended eight banks from the FX market last week Tuesday for failing to return Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation/Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company dollar deposits to the Treasury Singe Account (TSA) with the central bank.

A CEO of one of the affected banks confirmed Wednesday that they had received a circular from the central bank lifting the suspension, effectively immediately.

A 55-year-old man, Yekini Ogunjobi, who allegedly abducted a teenage girl for several days and assaulted her sexually, was on Wednesday in Lagos released on a N100, 000 bail.

Police have pressed abduction and sexual assault charges at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court against the security man, who lives at 12, Esuola St., Oko-Oba, Agege, a suburb of Lagos.

“The accused abducted the girl for four days and assaulted her sexually. “It was one of her relations who sighted her in front of the accused’s house that reported to the police,” Sgt. Donny said.

Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias admitted the accused to a bail of N100, 000 in addition to two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned to Oct. 6 for mention.

Ray J Defends Chris Brown Over 'Gun Threat' Arrest As He Gets Bailed

Ray J has defended pal Chris Brown after he allegedly pulled a gun out on a model at his mansion in Tarzana, Los Angeles.

Kim Kardashian's ex was partying at the star's bachelor pad on Tuesday before the row kicked off and the singer ended up in an 11-hour stand-off with police.

Beauty queen Baylee Curran claimed he pointed the weapon at her head after she admired a flashy necklace belonging to his friend.

In a video, Ray J said: "People can take a false story and blow it up into something way more than what it should be."

According to records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Brown was released on £250,000 bail today.

The full transcript from Ray J's video reads: "I'm real upset about today … I'm not happy with how things are handled and how people can take a false story and blow it up into something way more than what it should be.

"We got, just positive people around and you look outside and it's like a war zone for no reason, for something some stranger said about something that don’t got nothing to do with nothing.

"And to react like that, so fast without really knowing the facts … It’s just not right. It shouldn't be like this. I support the homie Chris [Brown] and I support the whole movement…

"This sh-t gotta change. It can’t be like this every time somebody yippin' and yappin' trying to get an extra buck. It turns around and it’s all bad on us. It ain't cool."

Bride-To-Be Hanged Herself Trying To 'Go Halfway To Heaven' To Meet Best Friend

A bereaved bride-to-be accidentally killed herself after believing she could go “halfway” to heaven to say a final goodbye to her dead best friend.

Jazmine Howarth, 25, claimed she could control death and meet up with her best friend and mother of one Dionne Corbett who had killed herself just weeks previously, before returning “to the land of the living”.

The young woman from Radcliffe was found hanged in a community garden just two weeks after her best friend had killed herself.

Jazmine’s childhood friend Dionne, 25, had also hanged herself at her home in Bolton, Greater Manchester, on February 26 following a battle with depression.

The inquest heard that Dionne’s death had left her friend devastated with the women having been best friends since they were toddlers.

The pair had even talked about getting pregnant at the same time so they could “go through it all together” with Jazmine writing a string of letters saying she wanted to see Dionne for “one last time” before coming back so she could “carry on with her life”.

Coroner Lisa Hashmi ruled “death by misadventure”, saying she did not believe Jazmine had meant to kill herself.

She said: “I have no doubt that the loss of her close and very dear friend in very tragic circumstances would have had a profound effect. She attended the chapel of rest to say her goodbyes. I believe she would have found that cathartic.

“They had been of course very close, described as sisterly. Both had had conversations about what the other would do if one lost another, it may have underpinned her actions, but I could not say for sure what bearing, if any, it had.”

But she said the letters left behind from Jazmine, showed the young woman had a “superstitious mind” and believed she could return.

She said: “What I can’t ignore are the letters, whilst it may be that some of them were drafted in the days before her death, described as a superstitious belief in Jazmine’s mind, a number of letters were found that suggested that Jazmine wanted to speak to Dionne for one last time.

“That she believed she could meet Dionne and return to the land of living. What I believe was a failure to appreciate how quick one could die. She had a mistaken belief that she could just pass beyond and return. Quite clearly that was a mistake on her part. It’s probably the naivety of youth that resulted in her sad, tragic and untimely death.”

Family and friends had previously told the inquest that Jazmine had agreed to speak at the funeral of her best friend.

But they said they had no indication that the young woman was planning on taking her own life on March 11.

Her aunt said: “We actually thought that she was much more settled than she had been in a long time. Obviously when her friend Dionne died she was absolutely devastated and the day before Jazmine took her own life she went to say goodbye to Dionne in the chapel with her mum. But there was no indication to her mum that she was thinking of joining her.

“The letter to her mum indicated that what ever she intended to do she thought she could control it. She was very much planning for the funeral, she was looking at reading, planning for that. I know nobody ever expects it but we weren’t – it wasn’t even on our radar.”

Dangote’s Net Worth Dips By $5.4bn Over Nigeria’s Economic Woes

Richest man in Africa and Chairman, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has lost $5.4 billlion in its fortune since this year, according to data obtained, Wednesday, from Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Using an average exchange rate of N250 to a dollar, Dangote’s $5.4 billion loss translates to about N1.35 trillion.

The Bloomberg Billionaires Index blamed the sharp drop in dangote’s networth on the slump in commodities prices and the devaluation of the naira in June by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

The report put Dangote’s net worth at $9.9 billion, a 62 per cent drop since January 2014, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

However, the report stated that Africa’s second-wealthiest person, South African Christo Wiese, trails Dangote by $2.8 billion with his fortune climbing 12 per cent this year on the index.

Dad Tries To Kill His Toddler Son In 75mph Car Crash Because 'He Is Not Man Enough To Raise A Child'

A DRUG-crazed dad who crashed his car at 75mph told cops he was trying to kill his toddler son because he is “not man enough to raise a child”.

Nathan Weitzel, 29, deliberately left two-year-old Isaiah unbuckled before ramming his car into other vehicles at high speed, police said.

Little Isaiah survived but has been left in a body cast with head and neck injuries and a broken leg.

Weitzel, who had two black eyes in his arrest mugshot, allegedly told investigators he took his son to play in a park while thinking of ways to kill him.

He said he then drove around looking for “a good place to crash the car and kill his son”, court papers say.

He had put his own seat belt on but deliberately did not put his son in a child seat and left him unrestrained in the car.

The arrest document says he told investigators “the reason he wanted to kill Isaiah was because being a father was a big responsibility and he did not think he was man enough to raise a child.”

Weitzel was charged with attempted first-degree murder, child abuse, assault and drug possession following the crash in Centennial, near Denver, Colorado, at 11am on August 21.

He was held in the Arapahoe County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.

Isaiah’s mum Nancy Lopez said: “He’s in the place that he should be. He needs to be in jail for a long time.”

She added: “I don’t understand why or how he could do something like this, but I’m hoping Isaiah recovers soon people pray for us and for my son to get better.”

Isaiah is now out of hospital and back at home with his mum Nancy, who has been forced to give up work to look after him.

Photos: Bikini-Clad Women Caught Smuggling £17million Of Cocaine Into Australia On A Cruise Ship

Two bikini-clad women charged with smuggling £17million worth of cocaine into Australia on a luxury cruise ship documented their lavish global trotting “drug run” on social media.

Canadians Melina Roberge, 22, and Isabelle Lagacé, 28, travelled round the world on the MS Sea Princess, operated by California-based Princess Cruises, while allegedly carrying “commercial quantities” of the Class A drug before being detained in Sydney.

The glamorous pair attended court on Monday, along with their co-conspirator and fellow Canadian Andre Tamine, 63, charged with allegedly trying to smuggle 200lbs worth of cocaine into the country.

The luxury cruise, costing around £11,400, started in Britain and toured the US and South America, including Colombia and Peru, before sailing to New Zealand and then Australia.

The haul was the largest seizure in Australia of narcotics carried by passengers of a cruise ship or airliner, Australian Border Force commander Tim Fitzgerald said.

The three did not enter pleas when they were charged in the Sydney Central Local Court with importing a commercial quantity of cocaine. They face life sentences if convicted.

They will remain in custody until their next court appearance on October 26.

Pregnant 13-Year-Old Girl Narrates How She Was Raped By 3 Men In Lagos

A 13-year-old primary six pupil, identified only as Ijeoma, has narrated how a 60-year-old man, Baba Ijebu, and two others – Kingsley and Henry, allegedly raped her repeatedly.
The teenager resides in the Majidun area of Lagos state with the suspects and they were alleged to have been sleeping with her for about four months.

The teenager, who is said to be three months pregnant, told Vanguard she was charmed.

According to her, “The first time was with Uncle Kingsley. That night I was passing in front of his room, when he said he wanted to send me on an errand.

Immediately I entered his room, he closed the door and when I asked him why he did that, he carried me to his bed and slept with me.

“The second man is Baba Ijebu. I went to his place to collect one of the things we used to make soap. When I got inside, he touched me with something in his hand and I did not know what happened until I found myself in his bed with my pants off, while he was beside me.

“Immediately I realized this, I cried and shouted, but he said I would die if I told anyone.

“The third man’s name is Henry. In his case, he called me into his room and said that my mummy sent him to me. But when I got to him, he pinned me to his bed and raped me.

“I shouted, but nobody was there to help me. I couldn’t tell my mummy because I was afraid she would kill me,” Ijeoma lamented, noting that a neighbour, who discovered the ongoing abuse, advised her to tell her mother but she declined on grounds that her mother would kill her.

The victim’s mother, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “I became suspicious after I noticed some changes in my daughter and when taken to the hospital, she was discovered to be three months pregnant.

“She was raped consistently by these three persons. From what I gathered, they usually slept with her when went for vigil and at the end, they would give her N100 or N200.

“The suspects were arrested by policemen at Owutu Division, but released.

“Now they are threatening me for reporting to the police. Kingsley and Henry live in the same compound with us, while Baba Ijebu lives at the opposite compound.

“Baba Ijebu, somebody’s grandfather offered me N1, 000 to take care of my pregnant daughter, but I did not collect it.

“Kingsley claimed he only fingered my daughter,” she added, calling on the state Police Command to intervene in the matter and let justice take its full course.

Police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, saying investigations were ongoing.

The Community Women’s Right Foundation, Alhaji Lateef Akinborode, has waded into the matter. The Project Director vowed to get justice for the 13-year-old girl and her mother.

Akinborode said, “It is unfortunate that people are taking advantage of the less-privileged in the society, and by God’s grace, we will see this case to its logical conclusion by making the offenders serve as deterrents to others.”

Nigeria Officially Enters Recession For First Time In Over 20 Years

Nigeria, Africa’s second largest economy, has officially entered a state of economic recession for the first time in over 20 years. This comes after current figures revealed that the economy contracted for a second consecutive quarter.

According to the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics, the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contracted by 2.06% in the second quarter. The GDP shrunk by 0.36%.

A recession is a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activities are reduced, generally identified by a fall in GDP in two successive quarters.

The cause of the slump is believed largely to be as a result of the slump of oil prices on the world market. That situation has been worsened by renewed insurgency in the Niger Delta region, the attacks on oil installations continue to disrupt production of oil in the region.

Aero Airlines Suspends Scheduled Services In Nigeria

Aero Contractors Airlines, Nigeria’s second largest commercial carrier, has announced the suspension of its scheduled services beginning from Thursday September 1, 2016.

Confirming this in a statement signed by the carrier’s management on Wednesday, Aero stated that the suspension was part of the strategic business realignment to reposition the airline and return it to profitability.

It stated that this “business decision”, which is a result of the current economic situation in the country, had forced some other airlines to suspend operations or pull out of Nigeria.

The management of the carrier said the airline had faced grave challenges in the past six months which impacted its business and by extension the scheduled services operations.

Desperate Couple Who Gave Up £250,000 Home To Fund IVF Finally Welcome Their Miracle Baby

A couple who gave up their £250,000 home to fund IVF after suffering six miscarriages have finally welcomed their miracle baby.

Jo and Adam Wiggins, both 33, from Braintree, Essex, lost six babies in four years before Max's arrival in June.

The couple were so desperate to fund another round of IVF treatment they rented out their home and moved back in with their parents to save up £10,000 for private IVF.

Jo, an administrator for the NHS, said: "We gave up everything to have our miracle baby and I wouldn't change anything we did because without that we wouldn't have Max.

"Going through the trauma of one miscarriage was hard enough but after suffering six we were completely heartbroken but I was determined to be a mother.

"After visiting a specialist I found out that I carried a high quantity of killer cells that were attacking my embryos causing the miscarriages, so I was placed on a mixture of drugs and we tried again.

"But we were then faced with another setback after I miscarried that time as tests also revealed Adam's sperm motility was low which meant we'd need to pay for IVF.

"We had already spent all of our savings on the miscarriage treatments so we were left with no other option but to rent out our home in order to save the money for IVF which cost £10,000.

"Thankfully it worked though and once we saw our baby at our 12 week scan we were overcome with emotion.

"After so much heartbreak we nearly gave up hope but I'm so glad we didn't, Max is our little miracle and we are so thrilled to finally be parents."

Footballer Who Left 14-Year-Old Girl In Coma After Slipping Her Drug During Kiss Avoids Jail

A footballer who left a 14-year-old girl in a coma after giving her super-strength ecstasy during a kiss has avoided jail.

Stefan MacRitchie, 20, was with the teenager in the toilets of a New Year party when he passed the "Nintendo" pill from his mouth to hers.

A court heard the girl swallowed the class A drug before asking MacRitchie what it was, to which he replied: "Eccies", the Daily Record reports.

She was taken to hospital where doctors gave her a 50-50 chance of survival and warned of potential brain damage.

MacRitchie, who is on the books of Highland league side Strathspey Thistle, admitted supplying the drug at the party in 2014 when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.

He was ordered to carry out 200 hours of community work and must remain under the supervision of a social worker for 18 months.

But the mother of his victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, slammed the sentence and said: “I’m shocked. Deep down inside I thought there’s no way they’ll let him walk away from this.

“Obviously, it would have taken my daughter to die and a murder charge for him to be put behind bars.

“We were lucky she survived. One of these days he will really harm someone.

“I’m shocked and disgusted. Petty criminals get put in jail for less.”

Yesterday, Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood was told by Mike Chapman, defending, that analysis showed the teenager had also consumed amphetamine, meth-amphetamine and an antidepressant.

Chapman said: “This was an impulsive offence carried out while he was under the influence of alcohol and ecstasy at the time.

“He accepts responsibility and does not place blame on the victim.

“He did not mean to cause her harm and no longer abuses illegal substances.”

Sheriff Fleetwood said: “This is an offence which could attract a custodial sentence but I can deal
with it by a community based
disposal because there is an alternative open to me.”

Alleged Terrorism: US Bans Chagoury, Eko Hotel Owner

Nigerian-Lebanese billionaire Gilbert Chagoury, owner of the giant Eko Hotel in Lagos and the ground breaking Atlantic City, is no longer allowed to enter the United States.

The billionaire Bill Clinton Foundation donor was banned from getting a visa on terrorism grounds for allegedly funding a political coalition, Hezbollah, which the United States deems a terrorism group.

The Los Angeles Times, which did a deep dive on Chagoury in its August 30, 2016 edition, said that Chagoury’s visa troubles likely stem from his support of a Christian Lebanese politician. The politician, Michel Aoun, is part of the same political coalition as Hezbollah, which the United States deems a terror group.

Chagoury been in the news of late because the Bill Clinton Foundation’s Doug Band wanted him to get access to a top State Department official, while the controversial US Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, pointed to Band’s ask and said it was an example of the Clintons’ ‘pay-to-play’ scheme between the foundation and State.

‘’Chagoury’s name has been brought up of late, because of an ask Clinton Foundation head Doug Band made of Hillary Clinton’s State Department – he wanted to put the donor, whose parents were Lebanese, in touch with the American government’s top Lebanon person’’, the US’s daily stated.

‘’Donald Trump, among others, used the correspondence to try and show that the Clintons were running a ‘pay-for-play’ enterprise between the State Department and the family foundation, where Chagoury had been a million dollar donor.’’

Chagoury was ‘known to have funded’ Aoun, the Times reported, with a Lebanese government minister telling U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey D. Feltman in 2007 to ‘deliver to Chagoury a strong message about the possibility of financial sanctions and travel bans against those who undermine Lebanon’s legitimate institutions.’

Chagoury never received the warning, the Times wrote, as Clinton Foundation head Band pushed for the donor to get access inside of Hillary Clinton’s State Department once she took over the reins in 2009.

As Hillary Clinton runs for the White House, her family foundation has become politically problematic with Republicans suggesting she and husband Bill Clinton were running a ‘pay-to-play’ enterprise between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department.

Band’s email to the secretary of state’s top aide Huma Abedin was one of the most heavily pointed to when detractors – including Republican nominee Trump – suggested the Clinton were operating a ‘pay-for-play’ enterprise from within the State Department.

Chagoury had donated at least $1 million to the family foundation, if not more, documents show.

Kim Jong-un Execute One High-Ranking Official For Sleeping In A Meeting & Another For Coming Up With His Own Idea

Kim Jong-un ordered the execution of two high-ranking officials by anti-aircraft gun over fears that the dictator is preparing another purge against his people.

Ri Yong Jin, a senior official at the education ministry, was sentenced to death after he fell asleep in a meeting being addressed by Kim.

After accidentally dozing off, Ri was taken into custody and interrogated where security agents found evidence of his disloyalty and disrespect towards Kim.

According to South Korean newspaper Joongang Ilbo, Hwang Min, a former agriculture minister was also sentenced to death.

Hwang's crime, according to the South Korean media, was to have developed a number of ideas to improve agricultural production.

These ideas were seen by the regime as an attempt to undermine Kim.

Both men were executed by an anti-aircraft gun at a military academy in Pyongyang.

Court Refuses To Stop Kashamu’s Arrest

A Federal High Court in Abuja Tuesday declined to grant an order sought by Senator Buruji Kashamu to restrain the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police (NPF) from arresting and extraditing to the United States.

Kashamu, a Senator Representing Ogun East, had through his lawyer, Godswill Mrakpor filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit and accompanied it with a motion ex-parte for injunction.
He had sought to restrain the respondents from taking steps to arrest him pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Tuesday, Justice Okon Abang declined to grant an ex-parte injunction.

Instead, the judge ordered that the respondents be served with the motion and for them to attend court on the next adjourned date to show cause why Kashamu’s prayers, as contained in the ex-parte application, should not be granted.
Kashamu, in a supporting affidavit, stated that the security agencies are acting based on a “politically motivated petition” authored by one Oladikupo Adebutu from Ogun State.

He alleged that there were moves to arrest him and transport him to the US to face drug-related charges.
Kashamu argued that the move to arrest and extradict him was contrary to orders earlier made by the Lagos division of the Federal High Court in two suits marked: FHC/ L/CS/49/2010 and FHC/L/CS/508/2015 which he had filed on the same issue.

EFCC investigators alleged that the Director of Finance of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Nenadi Usman released N400million to the Ebonyi State chapter of the PDP for the 2015 presidential election.

The said fund, the investigators said, was moved from Fidelity Bank Abakaliki on March 27, 2015, to an Access Bank, Abakaliki, account, where one Maxwell Umahi further moved N100, 000,000 and N300, 000,000 respectively into the accounts of Brass Engineering & Construction Nigeria Limited and Osborn La-Palm Royal Resort respectively.
One of the suspects, Chinyere Egwuche, subsequently withdrew the N300 million paid into the account of Osborn La-Palm, which according to her was used to finance the construction of Osborn La-Palm Hotels in Abakaliki, Uburu and Port Harcourt, while the N100 million paid into the account of Brass Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited was transferred to a certain David Umahi Faith Foundation.

Although investigation is still ongoing, EFCC operatives said the companies to which the funds were transferred were traced to the Ebonyi State governor.

Niger Delta Militants Blow Another Facility In Delta

Despite the ongoing military “Operation Crocodile Smile” in the Niger Delta region, an Urhobo militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Movement, NDGJM, in the early hours of today, blew up the Ogor-Oteri major delivery line, operated by the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company and Shorelines Petroleum in the state.

The group in a statement by its leader, “Gen” Aldo Agbalaja, in a statement, claiming responsibility for the attack at about 3.00 hours, said it was executed by its Uproot Team B, said the group was also launching “Operation Crocodile Tears” since the military had launched “Operation Crocodile Smile” to supposedly worsen the Niger Delta crisis.

It said: “Recent developments around our region, especially as it concerns the issue of justice and our inalienable right to protect our heritage, have proven us right all along. Now it has become clearer who is serious about getting justice for our people and who has been using the name of the region and the destinies of all our peoples to feather their nests, raising dusts merely to harass the Nigerian state and the oil multinationals into parting with money.”

“Although some selfish machinery, merely put together to achieve some pecuniary ends, has been parading in the name of the peoples of the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate will not be derailed on its mission to getting justice for the people.”

The group said those who want to join the self acclaimed leaders of the region to make quick money in the arrangement they had put together were free to do so, but it lacked confidence in the show they put together, calling it a pan Niger Delta initiative.

It said those people could speak for Ijaw nation, but certainly not all the nations in the region, adding: “When lines are blurred, justice is most likely to be miscarried. If there shall be a negotiation, it must be seen and indeed, must be in actual sense, be representing all the individual nations of the region equally.”

The group added: “The drama that trailed the visit of some Ijaw royal fathers to the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, in Abuja recently is more reason why equity must be a factor in setting up a body that will dialogue on behalf of all the peoples of the Niger Delta.”

“If the said leader could not respect the royal fathers of his ethnic nation, if he is lording his will over them, what chance do other nations have, which do not have adequate representation?

“That said, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate will no longer sit quietly watching the endless harassment of our people in various parts of the region by the Nigerian military. We had once warned against the victimization and harassment of defenseless people of the region, especially in the creeks, but rather than heed, the Nigerian military has increased its presence and made life more difficult for our people.

“They are now killing our people on the basis of mere suspicion, this cannot continue,” it vowed.

Its words “With the launch of their ‘Operation Crocodile Smile’, the Niger Delta
Greenland Justice Mandate is also serving a notice on the commencement of our ‘Operation Crocodile Tears.’ It shall from now on be an eye for an eye; for every military atrocity carried out in the creeks and hinterland of the Niger Delta, the Nigerian armed forces will have the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate to contend with.”

“To this end, we are alerting all those working in the UQCC/UPS Erhomukokwarien in Ughelli, Eriemu Pigging Manifold in Agbarha, Otorogun Gas Plant, Olomoro Flow Station, Warri Refinery, Port Harcourt Refinery, Eleme, OB-OB and Obite gas plants in Omoku to evacuate because what is coming to those facilities are beyond what anybody has seen before.

“We do not want innocent blood being spilled, therefore, we advise all indigenes living in the vicinities of the facilities to relocate for the time being.

“The world should, however, note that the bloodbath that is about to commence in o

Idol Worshippers Attack Priest In Anambra State

A Priest at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Ugbenu, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Rev. Father Fidelis Ifeanyichukwu Ugozo, was yesterday attacked at Obubo village located in Ugbenu by irate youths suspected to be idol worshippers from the area.

The priest was attacked and beaten to a pulp by the irate youths who tore his humeral veil to shreds and stabbed him and other Christians who also sustained various degrees of injuries while performing their monthly Rosary procession.

According to an eye witness report, the priest was carrying the ‘Blessed Sacrament’ in procession going round some villages in the community when they were stopped by one Mr. Gabriel Ikegbunam who is now at large.

“Mr. Ikegbunem insisted that they will not enter his village named Obubo and when they overpowered him, he started making contacts, calling some youths from the village to attack the priest and others who were mainly women and children.

Father Ugozo, who is also the Spiritual Director of Amen and Amen Ministry, Omor in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state was first rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Ebenebe but because of his comatose state, he was transferred to St. Joseph’s hospital, Adazi Ani by the Ebenebe Deanery Chaplain.

According to a former Catechist at St. Raphael’s parish Ugbenu, Chief Cletus Nwankwo, Obubo village is known in Ugbenu town for adulterous acts, adding that the youths suspected that the Rosary procession was aimed at destroying their deity shrine.

“They moved from Agueke village to Obiagu and decided to branch at Obubo before Ikegbunam blocked them and in the process, he called some of them and told them that Catholics are coming to burn their shrine. Soon the youths trooped out, wielding dangerous weapons such as axe, gun and machetes.

“They grabbed the Blessed Sacrament from our Parish Priest, hit it on the floor and used the Monstrance to hit our Parish priest on his hand before stabbing him on the face and other parts of the body,” he said.

On his part, the Traditional Ruler of Ugbenu town, HRM, Igwe Lawrence Egwuonu, whose wife, Lolo Egwuonwu was also battered by the youths, said that Mr. Gabriel Ikegbunam, Israel Egwu and two others stormed his palace before the incident occurred to complain that their shrine and other sacred symbols were burnt by Christians.

“After investigation I discovered that they were all liars. None of their shrines were burnt and I can defend it anywhere. It was Ikegbunam that incited others to attack the priest and other Christians. There greatest mistake was touching the priest and destroying the Blessed Sacrament. It is a sacrilege and they will pay for it,” he said.

The two culprits, Mr. Anthony Anigbogu and Humphrey Ekwenye have been arrested by the Police and are now cooling off at the State CID, Awka, while other accomplices, Moses Ekwenye, their leader, Ikegbunam, Amechi Onuorah, popularly known as Dangote, Sunday Okoye and Toochukwu Okoye are still at large.

Other suspects still at large include Sunday Innocent, Amaechi Anozie, Oge Nnakee, Lambert Okoye, Ejike Okafor and Omenankiti Uba who is the Chief Priest of Ofufe deity.

Although Uba could not be reached for comments, one of his allies who pledged anonymity said they were protecting their deity since the Catholic Priest is in the habit of carrying and destroying deities in the community

Naming Dog Buhari Has Nothing To Do With The President- Police

President Muhammadu Buhari has been dissociated from the case involving a man who named his pet dog ‘Buhari’ by the Lagos Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police

The police, in a statement dated August 29 and signed by the zonal Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the ‘Buhari’ in question was not President Buhari .

According to the police, a son to the Alhaji Buhari had reported the case to the police claiming that the arrested Igbo man was referring to his father. Continue....

Adejobi, in the statement, said “The attention of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, AIG Abdulmajid Ali, has been drawn to series of uncomplimentary comments and publications in respect of the case of a man, Joe Chinakwe, who was arrested and charged to court by the Ogun State police command for naming his dog “Buhari” and wishes to state categorically that the matter was grossly misconstrued.”

Adejobi further added that “the zonal command wishes to clarify and set the records straight that the case, as it was erroneously perceived, has nothing to do with the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, but with one Alhaji Buhari, the biological father of the complainant, Alhaji Halilu Umar, all of Ketere Area, Sango Otta in Ado-Odo Otta Local Government Area of Ogun State.”

He continued saying, “Also, it’s fundamental to state that the man was not charged to court for christening his dog ‘Buhari’, but for the behaviour of the suspect and circumstances surrounding the matter when Mr Joe, who had been having conflicts with his neighbour (complainant) named his dog, Buhari, his neighbour’s father’s name inscribed Buhari on both sides of the said dog, and started parading the dog with swagger amongst his neighbours and/traders who are mostly Northerners.”

“The said Joe was actually attacked by the people around for his action before he was rescued by the police. The timely intervention of the police prevented a crisis or inter-tribal crisis in the area.

“The zonal command, therefore, seeks the understanding of members of the public on the action of the man, which was capable of causing a breach of public peace, an offence the man, Joe Chinakwe, was actually charged for under Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code.

“The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Lagos, AIG Absulmajid Ali, appeals to the general public to understand the action of the police in the matter, which is in consonance with the primary duties of the Nigeria Police as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and accept it as a professional way of preventing total breakdown of law and order.”

Funke Akindele’s mother is allegedly not in support of her marriage with JJC Skillz…See inside Story

Reports have it that the alleged lovebirds wedded on the Thespian’s birthday which was Thursday in the UK with no family members in attendance.
Though a couple of the singer’s family members, including his daughter, were said to have been there with onlyFunke’s sister standing in as the family for her. It was reported that Funke Akindele’s family and particularly her mother were strongly against her marriage to JJC Skillz, who, they believe has the same profile as that of Funke’s first husband, Alhaji Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede. Funke Akindele’s first husband, Alhaji Almaroof has several children from 3 – 4 women, just like her supposed current husband who is said to have three children from three women.
There has been no confirmation from any quarters yet that the couple is truly married. Mr. Biodun Kupoluyi, publisher of E-24/7, who is Funke Akindele’s publicist when reached on the phone told Potpourri he has no knowledge of the alleged marriage, saying “when it is the right time, we will reach out to the media”.

It is actually confounding to many that an occasion as precious and important as marriage could be kept in such absolute secrecy. Neither of the couple has said anything or posted  any picture on social media to express their joy of the union. The only thing posted by Funke was a birthday ‘thank you’ note she sent out to her fans. For JJC, there was a post on Instagram that could or could not be giving a hint to the wedding having taken place.
