Samuel Eto'o’s charity match cancelled following coup attempt in Turkey



 A lot of playing and retired footballers are currently in Antalya, Turkey.

Most arrived yesterday and were scheduled to leave tomorrow after playing in Samuel  Eto'o's charity match scheduled to take place today July 16th in celebration of the 10th anniversary of his foundation has been cancelled following a coup attempt in Turkey last night which  resulted in the death of over 90 people.

The dinner night held last night, but the charity football match scheduled for today has been cancelled. Some guests are stranded in Turkey following the lockdown of the country's major airports.

Some players currently in Turkey for the events include Hazard Eden, Puyol, Michael Essien, Kolo Toure, Kanu Nwankwo, JJ Okocha, AY Comedian, Paw Paw and many others.


Lionel Messi and his teammate Andres Iniesta who were also expected at the events  cancelled their flights into the country. Other players who were scheduled for the match include:

Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez, Eden Hazard, Francesco Totti, Michael Essien, Xavi Hernandez, Carles Puyol, Eric Abidal, Jay Jay Okocha, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Andres Iniesta, Demba Ba, Didier Drogba and Arda Turan.
FC BARCELONA  Twitted that it’s players were all doing fine and in contact with the club.
